The first step to fitness

The first step to fitness is as Nike would say is “just do it”. Getting yourself mentally prepared to change your health, your body, your energy level or just your habits is all it takes sometimes to go forward. Starting with a walk will set you in the right direction. To many times we see all the ads and commercials and beautiful people we forget to start simple… take a walk.
As simple as a beginner walk and just as important is the “stair push-up”. You ask yourself what is the stair pushup? Basically the stair pushup is to strength what the walk is to endurance.
Start at the bottom landing of a set of stairs. Reach up 5 or six flights and place your hands on the edge of that stair. Now do 10 pushups. Repeat three sets three times a week. If that was too easy subtract one flight of stairs on your next workout, which will effectively increase the weight. If not maintain you stair until you can go lower. During the course of a month or so you will be at the bottom stair and doing a regular pushup as you slowly build some muscle. Keep up the walking and soon you will be running. With the two exercises above you will soon be ready to tackle more challenges and get closer to your overall goal.
To many times we start and quit because we cannot reach our goal, we want to run before we walk. Start slow and the goal will come to you!
